Terminated the insurance last time after ORD but I believe NS men are entitled to apply for it again as well. Also, if one were to have the aviva insurance, is it still recommended to get a whole life insurance?

Hi Clement,
The Aviva NS insurance is the cheapest possible term insurance 1 can get, however the coverage is till 70 years old. Based on the average mortality age of 85-86 years, I think it would be better to get a whole life policy. Of course what you can also do is to get both. As that is what some people do, buying both term and whole life to get up to 1mil coverage in the event of death, TPD and CI.

My general rule of the thumb for Aviva Mindef is, the group term Life is very affordable.
Most life insurance is like this. Whole life is better before 30. AFTER 30, term is more value for money. But if you believe in your investments (5% p.a and above), just get term insurance.
GTL - premiums are locked in until 65 (so its a very good TOP up for death while you
GLC - living care lower premiums initally and escalating. But then, time value of money helps because you pay less (to invest) and pay more later (so more can be invested to pay off the increase in living care).
A small whole life for End of life and after 65 coverage should be sufficient to buy TCM etc those not covered under hospitalisation imho.
