Investing through Insurance company

Hello! Wanted some opinions. I'm fresh grad and learning to invest my money. My financial advisor told me to invest with their company (passive investment) and I'm not sure if to go ahead.

What's the difference between investing in a roboadvisor, and the difference between investing funds and ILP?

Roboadviser: A roboadviser is an online investment management service that provides automated, algorithm-driven financial planning and investment management services with little to no human supervision.

  • You can compare the different robo-advisors here.
  • Roboadvisers typically have lower fees compared to traditional financial advisors.
  • Roboadvisers use modern portfolio theory and algorithms to create and manage diversified investment portfolios tailored to the user's risk profile and investment goals.

Investment-Linked Policy (ILP): An ILP is a type of life insurance product that combines life insurance coverage with an investment component.

  • With an ILP, a portion of the premiums paid is invested in various investment funds, such as stocks, bonds, or mutual funds.
  • The investment performance of the underlying funds directly impacts the value of the ILP, providing potentially higher returns compared to traditional life insurance policies.
  • ILPs typically have higher fees compared to standalone investment products, as they include both insurance and investment components.

the key differences are:

  • Roboadvisers provide automated, algorithm-driven investment management, while ILPs combine life insurance with an investment component.
  • Investing in funds allows you to invest in a diversified portfolio of assets, while ILPs have the added life insurance component.
  • Fees tend to be lower for roboadvisers and standalone investment funds compared to ILPs.

Never sign up for an ILP, it's going to be the worst decision you will ever make! I have one myself and i regret it every single time there's any mentions of it (paying thousands in fees yearly..)

Wonder is there anyone earning a comparably higher returns from investing with insurers....
