Interactive Brokers Message: cash available (settle cash): 0.00; despite having funds in my account?

I've 10K in interactive Brokers available for trading but when i try to bu any stock/ any amount within 10K, it rejected message cash available (settle cash): 0.00; Cash needed for this order etc... I've double checked and in the account window it did state "Available for trading" Current available funds: $10,000. First time doing trade, do i need to upgrade from cash to margin account in order to trade?

Do note if you are buying US stocks, you need to convert your SGD to USD first before buying.

Hi, not sure if this will help:

  1. Ensure that you are logged in via their IBKR website select portal log in

  2. Change to Margin Account under Account Settings.

See if that works!

It could also be, you've sent the deposit order but IBKR has not formally recognised it yet, and it may take a while to do so.
