I was looking through at the stock calculator in FSMOne and i saw this "Limit Price". How does these "Limit Price" works when buying/selling stocks work?

If I were to set the price to be lower, does it means it will only start purchases the lots when is hit the price that I have requested? Same goes as when selling the stocks? (When I set it to be higher, it will sell when it reaches the price I requested?) Do correct me if i am wrong, thank you.

For illiquid stocks, I once placed a market order and paid much more than what I hoped due to the large bid-ask spread. Limit orders can be useful when you want to enforce discipline and have a set price in mind
