I totally understand... Setting a realistic budget is so difficult, because sometimes you want to treat yourself but then you think like I should be saving this money instead? But for me in reframing my perspective about budgeting, I found this article pretty useful in helping me realise all the important variables I needed to consider before buying my budget! The biggest takeaway from the article is that it is so important for your budget to be realistic, because there’s no point feeling frustrated about overspending every month if your budget isn’t enough to cover your needs in the first place.

In addition to all these suggestions, I believe the most important factor is to have the discipline and firm resolve to implement the cost-savings plan. This is what worked for me years back.

I used to not track my expenses and tend to overspend beyond my limits until I used expense tracking apps to set my budget. I’ve tried out a few and found Planner Bee to be the best as they are able to sync with DBS (which most other apps are unable to) and set my budgets for specific categories. Found it very helpful in limiting my spendings and ensuring that I don’t go over my set budgets. :)
