How do you guys usually budget when going on a holiday?

Everybody is responding on how to go holiday on budget (low cost).. lol.. there are plenty of ways to scrimp on things (check backpacker forum for some extreme tips)..

But if you referring to how to budget (allocate funds) for holiday, I'll just share mine. Monthly I set aside budget of $500 for holiday. In a year I have budget of 6k for holiday.

From here usually (based on experience) I could spend on one far-away holiday, and one (or two) nearby holidays. If for example during far-away holiday I kinda spend $5.5k already, then I'd need to put a break on nearby holiday, or even no more holiday that year. One year I spent more than $6k on one holiday. That means next year I'll cut my budget accordingly to what I've overspent.

So, no scrimp on holiday, but stay budgeted. We gotta enjoy our holiday, and not suffering, right? ... 😉 ... otherwise, might as well don't go holiday...

What's the point of going on a holiday if you're going have to stress over how to scrimp and save?

I would do a budget of spending for the trip and do a passive income to fulfill the budget.
