How can I stay sane in toxic workplace?

My workplace is highly toxic and political. Manager is emotional, highly stressed and anxious, unreasonable. Colleagues are cut throat, snakes, uncollaborative unless you benefit them. These said, I'm not able to leave this job immediately due to financial obligations. Any tips on how to stay sane and not lose myself? Serious question.

I'm truly sorry to hear about your challenging work situation, and I understand how such environments can take a toll on your mental well-being. It's essential to prioritize your mental health, even when faced with a toxic workplace. Here are some strategies that might help you maintain your sanity:

  1. Self-Care: Make self-care a non-negotiable part of your routine. This includes getting enough sleep, eating healthily, and exercising regularly. Physical well-being is closely tied to mental health.
  2. Seek Support: Confide in trusted friends and family members who can provide emotional support. Sometimes, just talking about your experiences can be cathartic.
  3. Meditation and Mindfulness: Consider practicing mindfulness techniques or meditation to help you stay grounded and reduce stress.
  4. Set Boundaries: Try to establish clear boundaries between work and personal life. When you're not at work, avoid checking emails or thinking about work-related issues.
  5. Document Everything: Keep records of work-related interactions, especially those that involve conflicts or unreasonable demands. This documentation might be valuable if you need to address issues later.
  6. Speak to HR: If you feel comfortable doing so, approach your HR department or a higher authority within the organization to report any inappropriate behavior or issues that affect your well-being.
  7. Explore Career Development: While you may not be able to leave your job immediately, invest time in enhancing your skills or exploring career development opportunities. This can help you feel more in control of your future.
  8. Seek Professional Help: Consider speaking with a mental health professional or therapist who can provide coping strategies and emotional support during this challenging time.
  9. Focus on Long-Term Goals: Remember that your current situation is temporary. Keep your long-term goals in mind and use this period as an opportunity to plan for your future career moves.
  10. Network: Look for opportunities to expand your professional network outside of your current workplace. Networking can open doors to new opportunities.
  11. Stay Positive: Try to maintain a positive mindset. Surround yourself with positive influences, engage in activities you enjoy, and celebrate small victories.

It's crucial to prioritize your mental health above all else. If your workplace toxicity is taking a severe toll on your well-being, and you've explored other options without success, it might be worth considering a more significant change in the long term. However, I understand that immediate changes might not be feasible due to financial obligations.

Please remember that you're not alone in facing workplace challenges, and seeking support is a sign of strength, not weakness. If you feel that your mental health is deteriorating significantly, don't hesitate to reach out to a mental health professional for guidance.

Take care and prioritize your well-being.

I am currently a Financial Advisor as well, so feel free to reach out to me on IG (@ngooooied) if you have any further questions!

Sorry to hear the sucky situation you're facing. It's very hard to get through that 8hrs being in that situation, feels like an eternity. Sad to say, if that's how it is, i would suggest start looking for a new job alrdy. No point trying to fit in or be toxic like them cos it'll only affect you mentally and physically. Your loved ones will be affected too. All the best mate!

You need fight fire with fire. Adapt and be toxic when it needs to be. Since financial obligations restrict you to change job, you need to survive. So do whatever it takes to survive

Try to have a cognitive/mental cut-off from all the bad stuff at work after work. Remember, they don't pay you enough for you to still think about work, after work.

Meditate to take your mind off things.

Confide in close friends/family, but not incessantly and repetitively.

While you can't leave this job immediately, perhaps try to keep your feelers out for another job you can apply for.

This probably can't be where you'd stay in the long term. You will be unhappy in the long run.

Lay flat lol.πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚time up go home that all....
