Dear Kenson,

Thank you for entrusting your insurance and investment needs to MoneyOwl! I’m not sure if you have done the comprehensive financial planning with us in addition to the investment and insurance implementation, but that is where your adviser will place investments in the context of your overall financial plan including in a face-to-face consultation. This is really the core of what we do in comprehensive advice and that’s where the bionic advice on investments reaches its fruition.

I would like to hear more about your experience and expectations on the investment side in relation to our human advisory (perhaps you can email me at [email protected]or let your adviser know, if this is something you are open to), so we can get some feedback on how to strike the right balance between allowing clients to be straight through without being “disturbed” and providing the right support or signalling our availability to speak with you at your moment of need – because actually, our client service colleagues do pick up enquiries through messenger of online 9 to 9 seven days a week, and they will get your assigned adviser to speak with you thereafter.
Dimensional funds’ performance especially in the shorter terms have underperformed, mainly because the value premiums and to some extent small caps premiums have not shown up. As you probably know, Dimensional takes a broad market index and tilts it towards dimensions of higher expected return – size (small caps large caps), value ( growth) and profitability (high profitability low profitability). Based on academic science, these premiums have proven to be pervasive over time and are also backed by financial valuation logic. That in any given period the premiums might not show up is actually also fully consistent. However, when they do, we will reap the performance and we have seen glimpses of that even in the past year. Your investment is still very much in the short term, so I would probably counsel patience and have faith in the science and the evidence. Your adviser would also be happy to talk through this with you.

Thanks for your question and for being our client!
