Hi anyone tried to upgrade their flights w miles but the customer service said business class is fully booked out (even though there are still seats for saver and advantage online? & when I called in last week the customer service personnel said 60% seats are still available?)
I've booked my tix via my company's travel agent - not sure if that makes any difference.
Thanks in advance!

Flight upgrade depends on the terms and conditions set by the airline.
For example, Singapore Airlines allows upgrade only if the tickets are from the same category.
Try calling the customer service and check with them the exact category that you are in, and how you can use your existing miles to upgrade your flight - they should be able to give you the most accurate information.

Hi anon,

You'll want to ensure that your economy class ticket is of a fare bucket that is upgradable, not all fare buckets can be upgraded (I'm presuming you are travelling for business? If so, your company would usually book a flexible economy ticket which is of a more expensive fare bucket) So check the fare bucket with your travel agent.

If the fare bucket can be upgraded, then I can't think of any reason that you can't, provided you have the requisite miles in your FFP that's applicable to the ticket you bought. Codeshare flights usually present some complexity, and some can't be upgraded at all.
