Career change at 30

Speaking as another 30 y/o, I was often told that 30 is very young especially for a career switch. Typically government support for industry switches kick in when it is 40, and it is normally around that time when it is tough to do so.

Journalism is an interesting field to switch into, but like any industry, your best options are to:

1. Ask around for people who have made the switch into journalism, bonus if it is from teaching. (Career switches are not common yet)
2. Look at job postings at entry level to see what they expect.
3. Assess your financial situation and plans. Switches often make involve pay adjustments. If you are not a hardcore saver, you may need to be creative.
4. This being journalism, see if a portfolio of work helps you out.

30 is still young. Not too late

Just do it if you want to. it's not about age, it's about desire
