Can exclusions in hospitalisation plan be removed if one is no longer treated or on medication for the condition?

I was born with a small 'hole in my heart'. My dad bought me H&S plan when i was a kid and it had exclusion of "all disorder of the heart". Now that i am taking over my plans from him, i am wondering if the exclusion can be removed. I used to go for yearly check-ups at a hospital but have since been discharged. I am not on any medications as well.

Unlikely. If you currently have a H&S plan, I would stick to it. Heart conditions are not easy to get covered for, and most insurers generally exclude congenital conditions.

Hi anon, sorry to hear about your condition.

Hole in the heart is rather difficult to clear. Underwriters are pretty strict with this particular condition. I've tried before but failed repeatedly for my clients. Generally, certain congenital conditions from birth would stick with you for life. I'd encourage you to hold on tightly to more emergency savings and create a separate fund for future uses should there be complications to the heart that cannot be covered by your H&S policy.

Good luck!
