Appear to have signs of sleeping disorder. Do I need to get GP’s referral to hospital sleep clinic to fulfil eligibility to claim under Shield plan? Any advice?

Hi there,
If you might be suffering from a sleeping disorder such as sleep apnea, there are two ways to go about the situation.
If you currently have company coverage for GP access, you should first consult them and speak to them regarding your issue. Following which, they should refer you out to an ENT specialist. At this point if the corrective action is not surgical in nature, you would not qualify for a shield claim, but you should be able to claim via your company's insurance.
Usage of the Pre-hospitalisation portion of your ISP, must result in either a subsequent day surgery or hospitalisation event. If your company does not have healthcare coverage, do see a GP/Specialist which is under your insurer's panel providers, and if you would end up taking up a surgical option, you should be able to claim for your medical expenses.
Hope i was able to answer your queries!

Hi there. I actually did and claimed from a sleep test myself before. I was referred to the ENT department by polyclinic. You can check directly with the hospital's ENT clinic if they allow you to go straight. Either way, all your expenses can be claimed.
Do feel free to reach me here if you like to find out more. I cover AXA as well, aside from 8 other major insurers.
