One reason is because of the recognition and certification to drive a manual car. This is especially helpful when renting a vehicle or driving overseas.

Hi, upgrading from a 3A to a 3 might have several reasons.
From an income/side hustle perspective, some people might find it easier to get a job doing driving, pickup and delivery with a class 3 license as vehicles like a van and small lorry are usually manual transmission by default.
With a class 3 license, the route to an upgrade to 4 and beyond is also open. it is good to have options!
Next, when renting or driving vehicles in countries which are dominated with manual transmission vehicles, (think europe, countries in asia, backpacking/camping van, possibly some off-road vehicles etc)
You might end up with a more expensive option as auto transmission cars may be "newer" in a rental company and hence command a higher "premium" to rent and it may not be worth it in the end just because you are restricted by your license class.
These are my own personal views. Hope it helps!βββ
