Any idea what will happen to private ElderShield plans like Aviva MyCare after CareShield Life launch in 2020?

Will they become redundant and terminated?

Hi Ai Chung,

Even after Careshield arrives in 2020, current eldershield supplements will still be in force. They won't be terminated. If you are born 1979 or earlier, you'll be ported over to Careshield from mid-2021.( Note that there's a little bit of a 'waiting period' to join if you have opted out of ES400.) If you are already on Eldershield but have not enhanced your coverage, there's no harm doing so. If you are born 1980 or later, just wait for more annoucements which will come soon.

I think I better just create a 'table' of sorts here

In 2020:

  1. Born 1979 and earlier?

Yes, have ES400, and not severely disabled

  • Welcome to CSL automatically from mid-2021 (the waiting period), opt out by 2023 if you wish to stick to ES400

Yes, have ES400, and severely disabled

  • Sorry, not able to port to CSL

Yes, opted out of ES400, not severely disabled

  • Please opt in to CSL from mid-2021
  1. Born in 1980 and later?

Welcome to CSL when you turn 30 (automatic)

Nothing. It will still continue. Your basic eldershield would be the one that can switch over to the newer Careshield Life. Careshield Life will have its own set of supplement plans like MyCare is to Eldershield, but not much news about that yet. :)
