With Aviva looking to sell its Asia business, is it advisable to buy a term insurance plan from them now? What will happen to my existing policies?

Word has been going around about the potential sale of Aviva's business in Asia. I'm a little concerned about what's going to happen to my current policies. Anyone got any clue? Also, should I buy a new term insurance now or wait it out or get from some other insurer?

If I buy and hold ETF for long term till retirement, and the market happens to crash around the point I am retiring and plan to sell, does it mean that the long term gains are all gone?
