Why do investors not believe in timing when it comes to the stock market?

I've seen people say that timing is not a real thing, and that your strategy is what matters. Is this really true?

Just my 2 cents of thoughts - Even professionals cannot beat the market consistently in the long term, I wouldn't want to bet on my skills as an average investor to win them.

Many ppl believe they can time the market in fact but most of them failed and fooled by randomness. Hence I always encourage people to use dollar cost averaging method, you wont buy at the peak and you will do well in downturn market.

The main reason is because we know that it is completely impossible to time the market. We do not know when it will sudden goes up, when it will sudden goes down. If we start thinking ahead and assume that the stock market will go in a certain direction, we are in fact gambling on our luck that it will go to the direction we want. What if it goes in the opposite direction?

To determine if the market condition is favourable to invest, the question will be: Is there a right time to invest?

Accordingly, I have compiled a list of financial crisis and disasters since the 90s and every other strong reasons not to invest. However, the market has proven otherwise year after year.

Therefore, focus with the right investment strategy by knowing your investment objective. Then decide the tenure and decide whether to invest a lump sum or to do it via dollar cost averaging.

Finally, invest into assets that suits your risk appetite.
