Credit cards with generous cashback are best. Good examples would either be the UOB Absolute Cashback (1.7% unlimited cashback, no min. spend), or the AMEX True Cashback (1.5% unlimited cashback, no min. spend). Both have almost no restrictions on purchases which are eligible for cashback.
You don't gain much by using a debit card. Some people only use debit cards as a form of financial discipline, because the amount is deducted immediately from your account. Of course, if you're going to overspend, you'll do it whether you have a credit or debit card.
