What should you begin with to kickstart your investment journey?

I want to learn how to invest but I’m not sure where and how to start, is StashAway a credible route to go?

I started with reading books to understand my risk appetite and trading style.

One of the book that I would recommend is Rich by Retirement: How Singaporeans can invest smart and retire wealthy. Another book that I would think good to read is Quit Like a Millionaire.

Is Stashaway is good way to start? Yes if you know what you are doing. I have invested with them and definitely satisfy with the resulf so far.

For me, my real journey started only less than 6 months ago. I say real journey because when i turned 20, my dad helped me set up a poems and CDP account and told me to buy bonds. In 2018, he also told me to buy SSB. I didnt know anything about investments then so i just listened.

But recently, after 4 years of working, i came to a realisation that i hate working. I wanna retire early and to do that, i need to grow my nest egg and to also have a portfolio of investments that is able to generate healthy dividends. That got me into reading up on my own. So I started with a small sum in StashAway just to try.

I'm also very fortunate that my dad is into investing so if i had any questions on what to invest in, i asked him. I also spent a lot of time on seedly and moneysmart to learn about the different tools.

So my point is, find out why you want to invest, is it for short term goals like buying a big ticket item? Is it for early retirement? And then research, talk to people around you, maybe get a trusted financial adviser, read up on the different investment tools. There are a lot of options on the market, research and find you what you like. What your risk appetite is and which tools are able to match your appetite and help you reach your goal.

Stashaway is definitely a good start! That's what got me started anyway.
