What's the difference between local and foreign spend when it comes to shopping online?

When using the PRVI card to pay for online purchases from e.g. Zalora / Lazada, is that considered a local spend? Does the origin of the online shop matter or is it the currency your purchase is made in that determines whether its a local or overseas spend?

Hi,

You will have to check for the particular card.

Some cards define overseas spend as long as the payment gateway or processing merchant is overseas, especially in the case of BOC EM or UOB PRIV as you have asked.

Some cards will define overseas spend as anything that is in foreign currency, which is pretty much any other card. So take that as a guideline.

Most of the time, as long as its SGD, its considered a local spend.

Some cards are more stringent in their terms and conditions, like they insist the credit card processor should be in SG. Uber in SG used to have their credit card processor overseas, so the spending become "foreign" spending.

For most cases, SGD = local spend
