Great for third world. Not that fantastic here as the numbers might not add up to a significant amount at all. 50 cents here, one dollar there, you will do better to simply budget 10-20% of your monthly income and spending the rest.

No simply because how much spare change can one accumulate? If it's only a few dollars, 2-4% is as good as nothing. Sorry to burst your bubble. but of course, it's a good start if you're new to investments, better than nothing.
