What are some of your biggest investment mistakes?

What was your thought when you purchase that business, and how did your emotional self handle it, and what did you do? What have you learnt from it?

TBH, I am feeling a little lost now. I bought volatility options expiring in Jan 2020 - basically "betting" on the market news. Had the opportunity to let go few days back but was greedy and did not, now I am down -$ pretty bad, thinking about it everyday what I should do.

Being really open right now! Hope to hear your thoughts!

No matter how careful you are...you will make mistakes...no doubt...

i make a few mistakes when investing in March... due to emotion, i decided to enter early without thinking i have a strategy....in the end i lose money when the share price got even lower.

Always have a game plan...know your entrance and exit strategy(impt).

Incorrect risk tolerance understanding before investing.

Not having an emergency fund, or stable income, or being adequately insured before investing.

Too high concentration in any one asset class, geography, or sector.

Buying based on hearsay and not proper due dilligence.

Investing money needed within 1-3 years.

Not having a portfolio view and just a micro individual security view.

Not staying invested.

Reacting to market headlines.

Man, there's quite a few more but I think I've listed the more common ones.

Mistakes are inevitable; instead it is what you learn from it that matters.

Generally, avoid buy/sell beacuse of emotions. Always do adequate research on your own rather than to seek opinions from strangers on the internet.

I share quality content on estate planning and financial planning here.
