Two years into my current role now. How often do people change their jobs for a pay increment or to look for new role to enhance their current skills?

What are the indicators for people to know that it's the time to job hop or time to take up a new job function?

You have to know what you want, what skills & qualifications you have, what you’re currently doing if it’s what you wanna continue doing, your work environment. I think a lot of factors play a part but most importantly, in my honest opinion, those that don’t just look for pay increment, and are happy with what they’re doing, and put their passion at work, their reward will come.

2-3 years is a pretty decent duration!

when u find that you no llnger feel excited for your role, it's time to move.

Dont hop too often, doesn't look good

Usually it's when you don't see any prospects for progression, to learn new skills or new responsibilities / assignments.

While this is true, you will also have to reflect if you have tried to do more, take more roles or put yourself in a position to be able to do any of the things in the first Para.

It's always easy to say that you're stuck in your current role when you keep doing the same things. However a good mentor will usually try to push to do more (as much as that may suck at first).

The "stay in the job for X years" mindset just to pad your resume is outdated alr.
