Other than AXA Cancer Recover plan/savings/international health plans, are there any other alternatives for cancer survivors? Should I still apply for life/CI insurance given that cancer is excluded?

I was diagnosed with early stage thyroid cancer 3 years ago and did a partial removal of my thyroid. I did not undergo any treatments and no medications are required. I have been going for follow ups and there are no concerns with my current health. Any experience with CI/life insurance applications for cancer survivors? For ISP plans, I understand that it will be a straight decline, are there no chances of getting accepted with exclusions? Thank you!

Currently, AXA Cancer ReCover is the first insurance plan targeted to help cancer survivors.

For Life and Critical Illness, you will still be able to purchase coverage if you are in remission and healthy. Generally, you will have to wait 3-5 years after your last treatment before your application can be approved. However, it is likely that you will face a more expensive premium.

It is key that you declare the information to your insurer at the point of application. This will prevent any contestability issue in the event of a claim.

Do get in touch if you require more information.

Underwriting process will not be as straightforward. I suggest trying, to see if exclusions/loading is offered. It is highly unlikely for standard offer, but I cannot represent the underwriter's judgement.

For ISP, the chances are low. I can assist if you wish to try!
