I agree. And i think it is so much easier said than done sometimes. However, with regards to the kid, I don't think it might be so extreme to choose between a zero cost napkin and a $1 diaper. That being said, I feel that not everything should be focused on the price tag. Perhaps the time saved from regularly cleaning up the napkin might improve the quality of your life.

Let's say that for example, if you have a kid, you might already be stressed from taking care of the kid. A diaper provides convenience as you can just dispose the diaper after it is soiled as compared to having to wash the napkin.

So therefore, I feel that for an approach, one should look at the big picture, take what is useful and use it to apply it in different aspects of life. This question can be highly debated/discussed. Just decide and choose the option that appeals to you most.

Totally agree! I don't think there is anything much you can achieve by showing off, and you'll have to sustain this lavish lifestyle to maintain your 'status'.

If you are taking loans to show off by buying the most expensive cars and houses, eventually this lifestyle will be unsustainable for you and the debt will be crippling.

I think there are pros and cons to both the diaper and the napkin. Ultimately, it depends on the practicality of using either one, and which one you're more comfortable with. The diaper may be more convenient in the end.

There are things that we should be saving on, but we shouldn't try to save on everything just for the sake of saving!

Hello Clara, I agree with Loo that there's no need to show off. There's no point on being asset-rich but cash-poor.

On the point about diapers, while there's the option of the cheaper napkin, we have to weigh the pros and cons of it too. Using napkins may mean more time spent on cleaning the baby plus napkin. I would go for value-for-money diapers that takes into account comfort for baby, diaper rash possibility, etc.

I can't believe we are having a convo about diapers, but that's the beauty of this forum!

Umm , I agree with you saying that we shouldn't show off unnecessary but there is unique s of this question.

This is a good example wants versus needs. We know the diaper are going to cost a lot of money but it is a need. The price is up to debate to see what is worth it but at the end of the day we still need diapers for our kids
