Is there any distinct difference between a self-directed and broker-assisted online cash trading account?

Hi there! Finally got about setting up a DBS Vicker's account. Got a couple of questions!

    Self-directed means u buy the stocks urself and it will have cheaper fees. While broker-assisted means a guy will help u out but higher fees
