Hey there!

You probably will want to get the Whole Life plans with early Critical Illness (CI) riders since it will probably fit your budget better ; what you can do at least is to build a foundation to insure against a risk. But thats not to say a multi-pay CI plan is off the table. At some point when your child grows older, a multi-pay CI plan will be a better safety net from CI.

There are plans in the market where you can add multi-pay critical illness coverage (as a rider) to a whole life insurance.

Generally, it is more worthwhile to get a participating whole life insurance for young children. The long-term accumulation of cash value negates the short-term cost associated with the plan.

Moreover, this is a more straightforward form of planning for children as compared to "buy term, invest the rest". For instance, we can simply submit an insurance nomination to handle the estate planning affairs. On the other hand, we may have to pay a higher cost to set up a trust for the latter.

Hi Anon, on a pure numerical perspective, a Whole Of Life with ECI will be much cheaper than a stand...
