Hallo... I'm answering this from my own personal experience, which may of course differ from others. I have anxiety disorder for about 20 years now, with 9 years of working experience so far. I am on my 6th job now. Basically, it really depends on your boss(es).

In my first job, which was at a ministry, my then Deputy Director (later promoted to Director) "found out" about my anxiety disorder on my third day there. My personal suspicion was that she found out through the medical report where I had told the doctor about the medication that I was taking.

She had a talk with me and while she concluded by saying that she would not treat me any differently, she did say that she thought that I should consider another department where it might not be as stressful.

Thinking back to my time there, I felt that she was basically trying to push me out of that position. I would get scolded by her almost everyday for the most mundane things, and she always skipped my supervisors and came directly to me to ask me to change things or give me things to do (which I found weird because sometimes my supervisors would be surprised that I had been assigned certain things and they didn't know about it at all). This behaviour was despite the fact that I never handed in anything late or of terrible quality by any standards (I know this because my supervisors never told me that my work was bad at all). I actually felt that I was pretty good at my job! (Yes, I know that self-praise ais no praise)

Ultimately, I left the job once the contract was up and didn't convert to a permanent position when offered.

Subsequently, I did tell one boss about my anxiety before I started work, and it wasn't a problem for him. Other bosses, I never really told them anything until much later into my job, but it never really affected them at all as well. Maybe perhaps by then I had already proven that I can do my work? Also, I only told them as part of a larger conversation on more personal things, not related to work at all.

These days, I will still declare it during my medical checkup, and it still does make me anxious wondering if I would get rejected from the job offer because of it. But so far it hasn't happened. I have to say that I am lucky because my anxiety doesn't affect my work and I have been getting treatment in terms of medication and counselling or almost 10 years, so its at a very managable and mild level (nobody would know if I never told them). Therefore, I don't tell my bosses about my anxiety because its not a significant or impactful thing for my work.

Hope that my experience so far helps you in some way.
