Is it okay to give yourself a treat? When is it okay/ not okay?

I've always been a cautious spender. My emergency funds covered(generating interest), regularly invests my salary monthly and insurance covered. I set aside $$ to save from my paycheck but I'll STILL feel bad for buying myself something which I've been eyeing for a long time. The item is expensive but it's something which I can

afford, how can I get over this feeling?

It is very OK to lavish on yourself every once in a while. What you need as a precursor is what you have already listed: having some healthy savings, active investments, emergency funds.

Simply create a "FUN FUND" and reward yourself regularly for being a hardworking citizen. You sincerely deserve to spoil yourself out of your sweat.

  • Is ok to treat yourself once in awhile. In moderation.

  • Still single? You will be like below when you have kids...πŸ˜†. Your money will not be your money anymore... enjoy while you can.

You may want to write down the things you want to buy and review them the following weeks before getting them

It is OK to be frugal until you're not OK. If you are asking such questions it shows that it's bothering you internally and so needs to be solved. No point having millions of $$$ but not feeling happy.

If you can afford, my advice is to JUST DO IT.

Ask yourself why you feel bad for spending money. Is it because you feel bad losing money and not investing it? If so you are trapped in a very toxic scarcity belief (google this) on money where you see money is limited. Reality is there is more than enough money for everyone in the world. Rather than going back and forth/feeling bad about spending, why don't you focus on finding ways to earn more so you can (1) buy this item, (2) potentially have excess $$$ after the purchase, and (3) be happy!

These are some of the mindset change that 99% of the people don't realise they need but is so so so important in the financial journey. If you want you can check out my IG @richlifewithdavid for more free resources on money mindset and hacks.
