Is it better to just buy S&P500 or further diversify into other funds and assets class?

There are some quarters who only believe in S&P500 and nothing else (not even QQQ or RUT). What are your views if someone wants to do passive investing? Would you advise some allocation into perhaps gold, or small caps, etc and rebalance as and when required?

I know of ppl like dat, but u gotta understand dat those ppl hav other assets and investments. so even if they lose 100% of S&P500, they still hav their businesses, venture capital, etc, or they culd be hav a long/short strategy which u may not know, or they do not tell. Totally agree with the others here - shld diversify.

and its good to be skeptical of any advise.
