Hi Anon!

If you're looking for an affordable option, the Apple Watch Series 3 will be a good choice! The only reason why I didn't get it was that I'm on the Google Pixel! Also cuz I don't like square watches. 😅

Otherwise, if you're looking for alternatives, I've previously compared some of the best and affordable smartwatches for different needs. I subsequently for a Garmin VivoActive 3, so I hope it'll help in your decision-making process!

Hi anon,

I bought one for my wife as a gift. Normally I just observe her being alerted to incoming messages, and using for music when she's on the go.

The battery life is reasonable on a full charge (at least one day's worth).

But if it were up to me, I'll just use my phone for messages and music. I do think it's a tad overpriced for what it does.

In case it helps, sharing my personal experience with the Apple Watch Series 3. I bought it on a whim when I woke up one day and decided I'd had enough of being unhealthy and overweight. The hope was that it'd motivate me to get more active, as I'd seen happen with a couple of friends.

In terms of basic features, it does what most smartwatches these days will do – counts steps, tells you your heart rate, receives notifications, stores & plays music, and thankfully, even tells the time :)

The only con for me has been battery life. It lasts about a day on a single charge, but tends to run out a little quicker when tracking longer workouts and the heart rate monitors are active.

But the masterstroke for me was how Apple has used gamification to encourage regular activity. By getting you to close your three rings every day, they manage to invoke this competitive spirit deep within (or at least it did for me). They award badges for your activity-related achievements, which are a great motivator, and they get progressively tougher as you go along.

For someone who's been shockingly inactive on the exercise front for a LONG time, the Apple Watch has managed to achieve the impossible: make me exercise every day, in some form, for 6+ months straight.

16 kilos lighter and a whole lot fitter (and happier), I can say it's been a whim I'm glad I gave into :)

I got a Fitbit Charge for my birthday last year, it works very well but only con is that the battery life was abit limited 2 to 3 days and there are limited features.

Mainly use it for:

  • Running and Jogging

  • Fitbit coach (HIIT program on your wrist)

If given a choice, I would definitely get a Apple Watch 2 to have a longer lifespan and also, more features integrated well with the Apple ecosystem (iPhone and Mac)

Yup! Hope this answers your question, the price point for most fitness watches are all around there.

The worth and usefulness of it depends on your needs and usage.

Personally, I use it for my runs and calls whenever I'm without my phone, or when I am rushing for time and holding the phone is a hassle.

Other than that, I'm under utilising the rest of the functions.

Here is everything about me and what I do best.
