Investment suggestions for 20yo female undergrad who has $60,000 in savings?

I've started teaching tuition to JC kids since entering uni so I've saved up pretty much, albeit already having a decent sum of savings. Recently just opened the SCB Jumpstart due to high interest rate of 2.00% with no catch, so I’ve parked $20k savings in there purely for interest income. Currently, I’ve $25k locked up in a fixed d, maturity Feb 2020. Also doing DCA $300/mth into Stashaway (22%) and seeing some decent positive returns. Am open to take higher risk investments (eg stocks)

Put aside a portion into your CPF savings account. Assuming that you may not need that much in the near future, setting aside a comfortable amount can let you earn higher interest that most higher interest saving account. What more, it is lower risk that other investment products

Hi Joey, first of all, kudos to you for being so savvy with your money!

My suggestion to you is, sort out your insurance first (take over any plans that your parents have bought for you) then make sure you have your hospital and accident plan done up.

Continue to do short term savings like fixed d until you start working and have a better understanding of your fixed expenses. Set aside an emergency fund (6months to 1 year of your income) and get your life insurance sorted out.

Then the remaining free cash, is for you to take action for higher risk investments!

60k at 20 years is amazing! Your portfolio is good but as you mention that you are open to higher risk investments then you can consider learning (either through reading or attending courses) to invest in individual stocks!

Like what most others have mentioned, adequate essential insurance, e.g. Hospitalisation.
