I’ve been saving 1k of my salary each month (into my savings account) with 10k already in Singlife.

I chose SYFE because of its diversity between their REITS (local REITS) portfolio and equity100 (US portfolio). That way I get a dip on both local and US market. :)

Hi Anon,

POSB Invest Saver allows you to invest in 4 ETFs and lots of other funds.

For robo-advisors like Syfe, you will invest in a variety of bond and stock ETFs. Usually, you will be given a questionnaire to determine your risk profile, and the robo-advisor will suggest to you a portfolio based on your risk profile.

POSB Invest Saver allows you to invest in a single ETF, while robo-advisors allow you to invest in a variety of ETFs.

This would mean that robo-advisors are usually more diversified as your money is spread across many different investment products compared to a single ETF. However, I would suggest to read up on the things that the robo invests for you, to see if you are comfortable with investing in such products.

If you'd like to find out more about robo-advisors, you can check out my robo-advisor guide.

I'M invested in both.. Invest saver, you will not know easily how much you have invested unless you make to track down and before you redeem, you can calculate how good or bad was your investments.. Syfe shows you almost everything daily, including your accumulated invested and return etc. This is a double edge sword as you tend to panic over the volatility etc. Now for personal opinion.. I prefer Roboadvisors like syfe because of diversity and flexibility but dyodd.

Diversify! 100 in sti etf, 200 in robos, or make it 50/50, with 150 in sti etf, 150 in robos!

Can consider investing $100 monthly into 3 unit trusts. Have a diversified portfolio outside of Singapore.

No sales charge, no commission, no advisory fees but UT got annual mgmt fees of about 1% which is calculated in the NAV. i don't mind paying because

1) i can earn about 5 6 % returns. Don't mind the mgr earn 1%

2) rsp is automated. Hassle free. No emotion esp during market downturn

3) difficult to buy ETF with $100 (?)

Nope definitely untrue, why pay the manager the 1% when that money you could use to pay yourself? You also excluded the upfront sales charges, other miscellaneous fees, when withdrawing. There are also many platforms where u can set up automated investing/transfers. ETFs can be bought fractionally. Many brokers offer these rsp plans.

You can consider Syfe for long term investments! We offer three portfolios to suit the needs of different investors.

  1. Syfe REIT+ is a Singapore REIT portfolio tracking the SGX’s iEdge S-REIT 20 index. It holds 20 REITs the likes of Ascendas REIT, Mapletree Commercial Trust and CapitaLand Mall Trust. Please find out more here: https://www.syfe.com/reit-plus-portfolio/

  2. Equity100 is a 100% equity portfolio that invests in over 1,500 stocks from the world’s top companies. Top holdings include Apple, Microsoft and Amazon. Please find out more here: https://www.syfe.com/equity100-portfolio/

  3. Global ARI is our flagship portfolio designed to match your unique risk profile. You get exposure to stocks, bonds and gold in an allocation that is in line with your risk tolerance, investment timeline and gold. Please find out more here: https://www.syfe.com/recommended-portfolio/

If you're planning to contribute $300 each month, you may find that investing with Syfe is more cost efficient too. We don't charge any brokerage / commission fees, and there is no minimum investment amount. There are also no withdrawal fees when you sell.

Hope this helps!
