I am an introvert by nature, however, I realized that getting to know people or the right people can help make my work a lot easier. I had been given advice such as finding common ground and also chatting up with people in the pantry. I had been doing that, however, the rate at which I am progressing is slow. In today's fast-paced culture, I feel like I need to be faster.

Smile & be approachable! Sometimes a simple hello will help to ease the tension, and others will reciprocate. Or recognise other people's efforts during small chats, this helps to bridge the awkward gap when you are asking them for help later on (:

Be genuine.

That should underpin all that you do. If you come across as having an agenda while chatting up people in the pantry, eventually it will show.
