I am dragging myself out of bed to go to work. I want to quit, but I do not have savings even I have worked for many years. I have just paid off my debt. Any advice?

I have been in my career for 10 years and I am not happy. I want to quit but hubby wanted me to stay for a year to earn a bit more. Every night I couldn't help but tear till I fall asleep. Hubby asked me why I cannot endure 1 more year and money is important. Now I am just trying to be happy everyday.

Wanted to do a startup but not sure if it will work out for me if I quit my job.

If the job you are working for makes you miserable , definitely consider quiting ,
Im definitely not one with years of experience . But i definitely know that the feeling of unhappiness will definitely drain the rest of your happiness from your life til you are depressed.

If you have no more debt , and dependents are covered , why not try that startup! 1 year can seem short , but it can seem like an eternity as well !!
Even if the startup doesnt work out , your heart is at ease, you tried it , gave it your best , it didnt work out . Now we try something else !
I believe our advice isnt going to push you to make your decision or change it , but i do believe the best thing we can give you is our support !!

Unlike other commenters here, I'm one that advocates strongly on mental well being.

the answer is clear when I read that you tear till you fall asleep. Quit your job immediately. With hands and legs, it's not impossible to get a job. You can even start by evening doing grab delivery, while figuring what job to take up next. You can't perform well unless you are mentally well. Its pointless to have money but fall into depression.

life is too short to be unhappy. Stay happy, and you will find a way to make money.

always remember this, of all the worst situations that we have thought of, 99% of the time it won't reach that stage that's why it's called "worst case scenario".

hope all goes well! :)

I'm sorry that you're experiencing this, and I can frankly say I've been there.

Unfortunately, in your case, it's not feasible to quit because you don't have a buffer. Or as I've seen it called "fuck you money".

Perhaps you can take some extended leave, which can serve 2 purposes: to rest and to plan out how you can escape from this job that is making you unhappy. Or even if you can't take that leave, then use your weekends to build that plan.

Having a plan is a good way to keep you going for a while more because you then have a specific timeline for when this hardship ends, plus you know what you'll do afterwards.

However, be practical in your planning. I saw you mentioned trying to make a business out of your crafting hobby. I am a crafter myself (crochet) but I have never tried to monetise it because then it would become a job instead of for relaxation, and to me I don't want that. But perhaps for you it may be possible. Just make sure you do your research well to ensure that you will be going into a profitable venture.

Good luck!

U should stick it out for another year. Especially u have no savings and have a mortgage which I share with ur husband. Ur savings are supposed to be a buffer as it takes time for ur business to grow.

Saw from your comments that you are also interested in a home-based business. Why not do it part-tim...
