Hotel loyalty status are usually clocked either by nights stayed or number of hotel stays, depending on which program you are in. Some programs offer status for two years or one year. If you can clock the challenges, it is easier to achieve.
So planning to align a challenge with a honeymoon makes sense. Or clocking nights in lower tier brands might work too.
However if the challenges are a challenge, then you might have to think about other ways.
One way is to check if your company offers any travel benefits for employees. Might not get the top tier elite status but should be better than a member.
Another way is to get a credit card or charge card that offers hotel loyalty status. The AMEX Platinum charge card comes to mind 🥴.
