I plan to set aside $60k to invest for my child's education in 20 years time. I'm down to these choices currently:

1) Syfe Equity100

2) Unit Trust (any recommendations?)

3) 50% each in (1) and (2)?

For either of the options, I plan to hold for about 15 yrs then slowly drawdown to cash or bonds.

If you're looking at roboadvisors, you can also consider these portfolios:

  • Syfe Global ARI portfolio

  • Stashaway

  • Autowealth

  • Endowus Advised Portfolios

  • etc...

Using these portfolios, you can first indicate a higher risk to allocate more of your funds towards equities, while still investing in other securities like bonds and gold. Then, when you're reaching the end of your investment horizon, you can lower your risk index, and the portfolios will re-allocate for you accordingly, to lower risk securities like bonds.

If capital preservation is important, you can also consider long-term endowment plans that guarantees your capital.

Given that your investment horizon is pretty long (15 - 20 years), you could invest solely in Equity100. The portfolio's aim is to provide higher returns over the long term. If you're comfortable with the inevitable short-term volatility that will happen over the next 20 years, Equity100 alone could be a good choice.

You can also consider doing a 50 - 50 split between Equity100 and Syfe REIT+ for additional diversification. Our wealth experts are in the best position to recommend how you can allocate your funds to meet your goals. Do schedule a free call with them here.
