Hi, I am a Business Systems Analyst earning about 3.5k/month. I graduated last year and landed this job with a one-year contract which is about to expire soon. Based on my current trajectory, I can tell that my manager and department is keen on keeping me around and I should be able to convert to perm or at least negotiate a better contract.
So my question is, how much should I ask? Is 4k too much? Or should I be content with this 3.5k and wait another year? Any advice is appreciated!

Try applying elsewhere just to see the market rate, but a 10-15% increase after a year from contract to permanent staff is reasonable.
Don't ask won't know. Worse that can happen is they say no, then your follow up should be what more should I do in the next few months to give myself a better chance at getting this raise.
Then the convo will be goals based with a end in mind and getting a commitment from your employer.

If the market rate is around there too, there's no harm to ask. The most the company can say is no. It won't affect much. :)
Still very young so there are many opporunities for you. All the best!
