How does Seedly accounts for the quality/reliability of answers in this platform?

A lot of times, we might not be confident to answer the questions in this platform, but there are times people just share their opinion based on their own experiences,

Thanks seedly for replying.

I feel a certain system of rewarding those that comment through personal reviews on the personal profile could be helpful.

For example, I can go to Kenneth’s profile and reviewed that his comments on certain questions had been helpful; then the most number reviews by community/seedly team gets a higher ranking/recognition to a different β€˜level’ instead of through number of questions and answers.

This way, we promote the efforts of β€˜pay it forward’ and community can see the efforts of those who have been really actively helping the community.

Thanks!

I think alot of the onus is on the answerer to provide accurate/relevant answers and it depends on the integrity of the person as well. Seedly also does its best to ensure the answerer has set up their profile fully and also added a link to their social media so as to enhance the credibility of the members.

Then again, the consumer also has to filter out the good and the bad answers themselves and read from multiple sources before coming to a conclusion. Do not just take the answers at face value.

I work closely with the product and engineering team at Seedly and this is a very good question. Content quality and moderation is indeed a big challenge for all user-generated content platforms where users are able to create content freely. As mentioned by couple of guys here, it is challenging to improve quality of content but we are always looking into ways to use technology to help us do that.

For example, the flagging feature was released since last week to allow the community to help us moderate content better. And we are receiving good reponses so far and improved our moderation process.

We are also exploring other ways to improve the platform. If you have any suggestion, do let us know by commenting below!

Hi SJ,

This is a good question to share how we do this here, there are a few measures we put in place learning from online communities which have been growing over time.

It starts and ends with the main Seedly community guidelines** **which you can reference to here:

  • Making sure that authenticity of user profiles is key (which is why some of you with no profile pictures will be getting a notification/email from us soon)

  • We are not a troll or fully anonmyous site (for answerers)

  • We have the badges and levels system to show users who have been active over months and across the site (not just QnA, reviews and blog)

  • We also have this new report function which will allow our community to help us flag spam questions and answers so we can help to moderate and delete them behind the scenes.

Thank you for asking and hope this answers your question!
