How can StashAway invest our money if it is kept and segregated in a custodian account, and also guarantee us our money back if it goes bust?

This means that your funds are in a custodian account that is completely separate from Stashaway's own operational funds. Because Stashaway's funds and your money are completely segregated, even in the highly unlikely chance of a bankruptcy event, your funds will not be touched, as they belong to you – not to Stashaway!
