How can I sign up for my first credit card?

I want to sign up for a credit card, do I have to prepare anything? Must I be of a certain age to get it, must I be earning a certain amount of money before getting a credit card?

or you can see the individual banks if they having promo. Sometimes at shopping centre they have a roadshow that give free gifts too.
