Hi anonymous,

Of course! As cheem as it might seem, investing IS for everyone.

It's pretty much one of the only ways which common folk like us will ever have a chance of getting out of this financial rat race intact when we retire.

We've talked extensively about how you can start investing. In fact, we've got a really nifty investment guide that you should check out if you haven't already done so!

That aside.

Think of investing as how you would approach anything in life.

For example, let's say you've never had _char kway teow _in your life.

But everyone says that CKT tastes great and you should give it a try otherwise your palate will never know the heavenly taste and what you're missing out on.

So what do you do?

CKT costs money, so before you even think about trying it. You've got to make sure that you can afford it. You either have to save up first and make sure all your other needs are taken care of before you try char kway teow.

(I'm exaggerating here)

Next, you research more about CKT and maybe check out food reviews (could be food bloggers) to find out where to find the best CKT. Or maybe even how to order the best CKT (hum or no hum? to add chilli or no?)

Then when you get to the CKT stall, you don't just order the XL plate and go all out... you try the smallest plate first. Sample the flavour. Test test first. Maybe you like it, maybe you don't.

Maybe you find out that you're allergic to hum. So the next time you order, you try again without hum. Until you find the combination which works for you and it becomes second nature.

Before long, you're a pro at ordering and eating CKT.

But eating CKT all the time isn't great for your waistline, so you gotta vary your diet too. You discover that the CKT stall you go to also sells Hokkien Prawn Mee and Fried Carrot Cake. So you decide to mix it up sometimes and diversify your diet.

In summary (not talking about CKT anymore):

  • Save up and take care of your other needs and debts first

  • Research and read up as much as you can about investing

  • Start small and test the waters before going all in

  • Keep doing it and learn along the way

Okay, now I want some char kway teow.
