Hi guys, what is the difference between investing and trading?

I know that there are platforms like IQ option to trade.

But how about investing? How do I get dividends?

Also, in investing, when I buy stock for lets say $1 and it becomes $3, I sell the stocks (like trading) and also get dividends while I hold them is that correct?

How do I start investing? I would like to invest on my own using a platform, thanks!

Trading is the belief that if you buy a security now, there will be a "sucker" in the not too long future will buy it from you at a higher price, allowing you to profit

Hey there!

Trading is a lot more speculative than investments. Partially because trading requires a lot of chart analysis and timing. That being said, it is usually short-term in nature.

Investment, however, is often a long term thing. It banks on the generic trend of the stock market (which is upwards in the long term). That isn't to say investments does not have a speculative nature. But a good investor isn't waiting to time the market, the good investor times himself in the market.
