Heard that SQ will be flying to brussels in 2020, is there any way to mile hack more efficiently using the stop-over trick through brussels?

You can use the $100 stopover strategy departing brussels to kick start your next holiday. Or, use it ending in Brussels, e.g. BKK - SIN - BRU, which means you were holidaying in Brussels prior to that.

At least this will allow you to check luggage in and pick it up in Singapore, whichever direction you choose.

If you want to do it through Brussels, you might be able to book a Star Alliance award ticket with a stopover, since Brussel Airlines is part of Star Alliance. I'm not sure if it is possible but you might be able to get a few days off in Brussels before continuing to another destination ex-BRU.

As for the exact specifics on how this works, here's a good article to guide you:

You have to do it like seng hoong and elijah shared if you are doing to stop over exploit. You will need to pay $100 for this exploit to work.

As SQ does not operate any 5th freedom flights from Brussels to another destination, it is not possible to utilise the stop-over trip to stop-over in Brussels.

Stop over trick best way. Fly say from singapore to brussels then return trip fly brussels to singapore (stop over say 200 days in sgp) beforr going for a nearby flight like indonesia or philipines. The miles to redeem is the same and all you need is pay $100+ for the same class of seats.

Hence best to redeem.miles for this stop over trick on business to maximise it

Do you mean like you want to use brussel as your final destination, but instead of that, you choose another city, with a stopover at brussel, with the tickets a lot cheaper than brussel as the final destinations..

and then when you are at brussel, you just don't board the connecting flight and leave the airport :)

Its a hack, and its been done by pple and documented on the internet. However, it is relatively difficult for us (especially for winter season in europe) as you shouldn't have check in luggage.

Hard to tell the airline to release ur luggage at brussel when they are supposed to send it over to the next flight.

I read on this a few months ago, basically the guy in question, he will check many many outlier cities around the stopover city to find tickets that are cheaper than the stopover city (because of competition from direct flights airline), it takes time to google everything and compare, probably a few hous at least.

but its very worth it because he is getting business class or first class at very much lower rates.

do note on the only carry-on luggage!

if you try it, come and tell us more!

The stopover trick generally refers to having the stopover in Singapore. If you stopover through Brussels, it's a normal stopover.
