Gold is known for its power to store value over a long period of time. I think there are 2 main reason why people accumulate bullion. Investment and inheritance.
People generally invest in gold to hedge against inflation. There are also those who accumulate to pass it down to their love once as an inheritance when they are gone.
Historical performance since 2000 shows us that Gold has increased by about 300% of its value while silver is about 150%. This long term growth tells us how well gold has been performing despite the volatilities.
Especially in times of uncertainties, prices of gold and silver tend to rise higher.
Gold is recently on a downtrend as we are starting to see lesser talks of recession and a bit more stability in our current affairs. To sell or hold is a personal decision which requires us our part to do our own due diligence.
It's a buy and hold for me. I like discounts!:)
