Considering it because the sign-up bonus is decent (~10k miles achievable with just a ~$1k spend).
To elaborate, I'll get 5,000 KrisFlyer miles (via Milelion's referral link) when I spend a minimum of S$1,000 in the first 3 months of card membership + a bonus of 5,000 KrisFlyer miles the very first time I charge the card.
To me, with the fact that my miles are credit to KF and start their 3 year expiry once I start spending on this card, I would only use this card if I knew I had an upcoming redemption.
As you have mentioned, a $1K spend is quite achieveable, but the problem comes when your 10K miles sit in your FFP and can't be used to redeem anything, unless you can spend your way up to a decent number of miles within 3 years.
I would use the $1K spend as a way to get 10K miles if I was just short of a redemption that I had in mind (and with miles from other cards already primed for transfer into KF), or, if I had big spend coming up and wanted to get the bigger bonus of 37K miles.
Holiday and wedding are some of the big ticket items you can use the AMEX card for
For now grab because it is avaliable for miles reward until end Feb 2020. However after this, Amex card is best utilised for places like in hotels where expenditures are of a large amount. And most hotels and booking websites (including airbnb), accept Amex as payment
ANEX sign up bonuses are best reserved for big spends that you have coming up, such as Hospitals, car dealerships or wedding banquet venues.
These are places that take Amex cards and clearing the sign up bonus spend in one shot makes things easier as you don't have to track how much you've spent so far. You also don't have to worry about not hitting the required spend a few days before the deadline.
It depends on your spending habit. Instead of spending money to get the miles (which may be worth it), spend some time to understand your cashflow: https://www.blog.pzl.sg/understanding-your-personal-cash-flow/
Through this process, make a list on the expenses that will accept AMEX as a payment option. Then plan your expenses accordingly.
All things considered, this will be the best suggestion, rather than for you to spend extra money to get the miles.
