Due to Wuhan virus outbreak, are the airlines and hotels having super cheap sales now? Any special promotions or last minute deals worth taking up?
At the moment of writing this, I'm not seeing any particularly cheap sales of any sort.
It's not like 2011 Japan earthquake, where the incident had occurred, and people stayed away from Japan, and SQ slashed Tokyo bound fares to ~$300+ return in economy. Back then, Tokyo wasn't at an increased risk of radioactive fallout, but people were spooked all the same. But right now the situation is live and evolving, so I can see why airlines rather stay away from flying to China than entice people to go there.
Hotel will have cheaper rates since the occupancy rate will be low. The hotel pricing algorithim will allow the pricing to adapt to hit their target occupancy.
Same goes for major airlines. Budget plane pricing will not differ much from their normal promotions.
Yes there are airlines which are having special promotions now. China southern airlines is offering a flight from Hong Kong to New york for only about $300, however there is one condition that you need to layover for 6 hours at Wuhan Airport, the epicentre of the virus. The same flight route from HK to New York on other flights will cost you 4-5 times ranging from 1.2-1.5k
