Hey! For starters, the local ETF STI is a good place! Saying its not volatile doesnt mean it doesn't fluctuate so you have to be prepared. But above all, the type of investment can go only as well as your STRATEGY for investments. Rather than putting in one lump sum on a single company (aka stock picking) and risk it going bust (if due dilligence is not done well), try doing a regular allotment of your capital monthly into the STI. It will be hard for the STI to crash and burn since most of them are financial companies in SG (if the banks crash in SG, we are doomed) hence its of a lower risk compared to the rest. Also because it's on sale now ;)

Hi there, I happened to just be reading this article and thought it could be useful for you. In summary, there are 6 different instruments that offer almost risk-free returns for which you could consider:

  1. Singapore Government Treasury Bills

  2. Singapore Government Bonds

  3. Singapore Savings Bonds

  4. Fixed Deposits

  5. CPF Top-ups

  6. Saving Plans

They explained each in a very succint way so it should be easy to understand. Hope you gain some insights from this article!

Traded endowment policies (TEPs) are considered one of the low-risk investments with little volatility. Low-risk does not mean no-risk, hence ensure that you understand the risks involved before considering TEPs.

Not sure what you meant by "extremely safe", but what I can say is, an investment has to have exposure to risks to have a yield. No risks, no yield.

Disclaimer: I own a business trading insurance policies, including TEPs.
