Beyond just promotions (though Maybank is now offering S$100 cash credit when you apply for a new card + a Creditable acct), Maybank actually has some of the best credit cards on the market, in my opinion! Here's a quick breakdown w/ comparisons to the broader market:

  • Maybank Friends & Family MasterCard: Best for everyday local spendersā€“If you spend S$800/mo, you'll unlock 8% rebates on dining, groceries, transport, petrol & more (in SG & MY). The best part? If you spend S$1k/month, you'll max out the S$80/mo rewards capā€“earning up to S$960/yearā€“AND earning an annual fee waiver. Citi Cash Back also offers 8% rebate on dining, groceries & petrol, but categories are individually capped at just S$25/mo. Citi CB also has a higher minimum monthly spend requirement (S$888) and does not offer a fee waiver

  • Maybank Horizon Visa Signature: Best miles card for local spendersā€“Earn 3.2 miles/S$1 on local dining, transport, petrol & Agoda bookings, 2 miles on travel & overseas. That's a higher local rate than you'll get with almost any other travel card. You also get a few perksā€“free lounge access (w/ S$1k spend) & travel insuranceā€“but you can avoid the "nasty" annual fee associated with other travel cards (waived with just S$18k spend). For referenceā€“Citi PremierMiles and DBS Altitude offer just 1.2 miles for local spend; Citi PM doesn't offer an ongoing fee-waiver, and DBS Altitude's is harder to achieve (S$25k/year)

  • Maybank Platinum Visa: Best for low spendersā€“Earn 3.33% rebate locally with just S$300 minimum spend. While this amount is capped at S$30/quarter (S$10/month), you'd be earning just 0.4% at this spend level with almost any other cashback card. Plus, you get perks like free travel insurance & an easy fee waiver

I know this response comes a bit late, but Maybank is definitely still worth considering if you haven't made up your mind yet (or, if you're interested in adding another card to your wallet). If you want to learn more, here's a guide on Maybank's best cardsā€“hope this helps!

Theres a promotion that has been going on since October 2019 and it is that if you apply for Maybank Credit Cards and CreditAble, you get a complimentary luggage from American Tourister (luggage worth $260). All you have to do is charge a minimum of $300 to your credit card or withdraw from your CreditAble account for 2 consecutive months upon approval.

This promotion is valid for those with preexisting cards namely:

  • DUO Platinum Mastercard

  • Family and Friends

  • FC Barcelona Visa Signature

  • Horizon Visa Signature

  • Manchester United Platinum Visa

  • Platinum Visa Card members

  • Credit Able card members

but since you have never used Maybank before, this promotion does not apply to you. Sooo, maybe it isnt worth exploring Maybank at the moment.
