Taking into account phone bill, giving parents money, insurance to pay.

I believe yours seem frugal to me.
I (within the age group) live away from my parents. I'm currently staying in a rented place which does not allow me to cook.
My average monthly expenses is SGD1,600 per month.
The main bulk is due to:
Rent SGD600
Travel SGD300
Food SGD500 - SGD600
Transport SGD100
Others SGD100 - SGD200 (shopping, massage, wedding gifts, etc)
For insurance, it is all fully paid by the company, except for accident insurance.
I was more frugal when I was younger - but I realised I need to love myself too :)

It is better to view things as a percentage of your income as opposed to a real number. A person earning $10,000 a month at 25 would be classified as extremely frugal if he spends $500 a month. While if he earns $1,700, he would be classified as diligent.
Your spending is in line with some of my younger adult clients - most save the majority of their income in cash.
