I know it is a bit late but it since I will probably not be able to travel for a few more months, it wouldn't make sense to keep this plan. Or does it not make a diff whether I cancel or not? (in terms of fees)

Since you are not flying, then it doesn't make sense for you to keep the travel insurance. Therefore, save the cost or channel it for other purposes.
In any case, when you do fly again in the near future, the cost that you have saved today is probably enough to pay for the single trip or subsidise your annual plan.
